Transport & Success Stories

We use specially adapted vans with air conditioning, climate control and ventilation along with fixed pods for safety to transport our dogs. The pods are cleaned regularly and the dogs are fed and watered throughout the journey.

A few of our success stories below.

Ziggy

Ziggy (was Barclay) in Romania, off the bus & now. He was found abandoned in the town where our Gandalf shelter is. He was adopted in January 2025. His adopter says:

Following a previous successful adoption with our resident dog from Macedonia, we decided to adopt another dog. This time we put our trust in Final Stop Rescue. A decision we definitely do not regret. We shared details about our family life and what we hoped for in a dog, and the rescue team listened carefully and recommended Ziggy (formerly Barclay). Their description of his temperament couldn’t have been more accurate. As parents, we were naturally concerned about finding a dog who would be good with children and be good with other dogs. Ziggy has exceeded all our expectations – he’s gentle, loving, and has quickly become part of our family. Throughout the process, we were able to view wonderful videos and photos of Ziggy in the shelter in Romania, which was incredibly reassuring and heartwarming. You could see that the dogs were well cared for. What truly impressed us was Final Stop Rescue’s dedication throughout the entire process. Their communication was excellent from start to finish, and they’ve continued to offer support even after the adoption. It’s clear they genuinely care about the dogs in their care and the families they match them with. By trusting FSR, we found not just a pet, but a perfect addition to our family. We’re completely in love with our Ziggy, and we are grateful to FSR and his rescuers in Romania for bringing us together. Rebecca, Staffordshire

Flossie

Flossie in Romania, off the bus & now. She was saved from Aiud kill shelter. She was adopted in December 2024. Her adopter says:

As soon as we’ve seen Flossie on the website, we completely fell in love! The whole process of adopting & bringing Flossie to the UK was extremely well organised. We were updated regularly and you could even track your pup which was amazing! We have now had Flossie for 7 weeks! She has came such a long way, she was very scared of everything really including us, trouble then sleeping without us & being left she hated. I was still able to contact the rescue for advice and they even made a little group chat up to help us. With their help, Flossie is now sleeping all night on her own, she’s happy, becoming less scared of things everyday, quite likes to be left and chill a little while on her own and most importantly, her and my other little rescue dog Millie are best friends. Can’t thank all of the team enough for the amazing work they do and continued support they show. Thank you from all of us. Joyce, Fife

Teddy

Teddy in Romania, off the bus & now. He was found abandoned by a rescuer after he was hit by a car and lost an eye as a result. He was adopted in December 2024. His adopter says:

This is Teddy with one eye. The adoption process was very well organised and I received a lot of help with this. Teddy settled in straight away and every day has been a pleasure with new things he is doing. He follows me everywhere I go and loves lots of cuddles. The gentlemen that brought him to us were great people. I would recommend anyone to adopt from you, thank you all for our fur baby. Prudence, Bedfordshire

Imogen

Imogen in Romania, off the bus & now. She was rescued from Raduati kill shelter. She was adopted in December 2024. Her adopter says:

Little Imogen arrived on a cold and dark December night to warm our hearts and brighten our home. It is amazing to see her transformation over the last 2 months. It took some time for her to start feeling safe and secure and build her trust. However, with love, patience and consistency, she learned fast. Now she is a playful, affectionate, curious, active and happy girl! We appreciate the rescue’s support with guidance and advice. In particular, Monika who took the time to answer my never ending questions, provided updates throughout the process and helped us connect with other rescue dog adopters. Elena, West Midlands

Fudge

Fudge (was Cadbury) in Romania, off the bus & now. He was taken from poor living conditions near to the Gandalf shelter. He was adopted in November 2024. His adopter says:

Fudge (was Cadbury) arrived mid November 24 and filled a gap left by our fur babies who left us in 2022. On arrival he was understandably scared, tired and dejected. Fast forward three months and he is now a completely different dog. His confidence has grown, personality has come through and he is loved so much. Early days were challenging with one or two medical issues that are now far behind. Our interaction with Final Stop was professional and straight forward. It’s clear that the animals welfare is at the forefront of what they do. We are so very happy with Fudge’s progress and can’t thank Monika and the team for the fantastic work they do. Paul, Sunderland

Bella

Bella (was Kylie) in Romania, off the bus & now. She was taken from poor living conditions near to the Gandalf shelter. She was adopted in November 2024. Her adopter says:

Hi, my name was Kylie but mummy changed it to Bella. I used to live in Romania. I’m only little but I now have 2 big brothers and a big sister. My bus here was lovely, clean and they looked after me. I had dinners and water and was warm. My new mummy says I’m a bit naughty but says I can never leave and it’s my forever home. I hope my friends can find a mummy like mine one day soon. Thank you all for saving me, Bella x Tanya, Lincolnshire

Meeya & Dylan

Meeya (was Mariah) and Dylan (was Ed) in Romania, off the bus & now. They were rescued from Lancram kill shelter. Meeya was adopted in August 2024 and Dylan in October 2023. Their adopter says:

Dylan and Meeya have brought us so much joy. We adopted them one at a time and we were really happy how professional the whole process was. We would like to thank the whole team for helping us! Laurie, Berkshire

Grace

Grace (was Bianca) in Romania, off the bus & now. She was was rescued from a kill shelter. She was adopted in August 2024. Her adopter says:

This is Grace, was Bianca. To be honest, I was going to leave it a while before adopting another Romanian dog, but I saw her, she fitted the bill and I fell in love with her right away. The whole adoption process was thorough, as it should be, but straightforward. No problems. We could even see the dogs on the Happy Bus as they were dropped off. We were given a rough estimate of the day and time our individual dog would arrive, and she did. We could chat with the other adopters online, which was nice. Also given instructions how to attach the slip lead to our arms, so there was no chance of the dog bolting. Grace was very scared on arrival but we had been instructed on letting them decompress, let them do everything at their own pace and make a safe space for them while they recover and adjust to living in their new home. All good advice and if we were uncertain as they settled in, we had online support, which was good. I was lucky as Grace had no major issues and she settled in at her own pace. The whole adoption procedure was done very easily and thoroughly. I was glad of the advice given and I can’t thank all at Final Stop enough. Grace is loved so much and has bonded with my other Romanian rescue, which is good to see. Thank you all again. Gill, Devon

Ralfie

Ralfie (was Winston) in Romania, off the bus & now. He was rescued as he was being kept in a tiny cage. He was adopted in August 2024. His adopter says:

We adopted Ralfie (was Winston). We fell in love with him as soon as we saw him. The adoption process with Final stop rescue was so easy & straight forward. We were kept updated when Ralfie set off on his journey to the UK. The team are there to answer any questions both pre & post adoption. Ralfie slotted into our home straight away. He is such a gorgeous, cheeky boy, full of character & a proper snuggle bug. We couldn’t imagine life without him & can’t thank Final Stop Rescue & Camelia enough for keeping him safe. I would definitely recommend adopting from Final Stop & giving a little Romi a place in your heart (and your sofa & in front of the fire). Susan, Durham

Dobby

Dobby (was Yarmir) in Romania, off the bus & now. He was found running on the road with his sister. He was adopted in August 2024. His adopter says:

The adoption process was very easy & efficient. I was contacted about the transport process & when to expect dog/pup. Photos are sent during transport of your special one. Adoption from Romania is extremely worth the wait to get your special dog. It makes you feel extremely happy as you work with your new pet. You have to understand your pets needs. This is the best thing l have ever done & wish l had done so sooner. The love I have with my dog (Dobby) is unbreakable.
Thank you so much for arranging everything & making it easy. Kath, Hertfordshire

Ruby

Ruby (was Lyra) in Romania, off the bus and now. She was rescued from a house where she was living in terrible conditions. She was adopted in August 2024. Her adopter says:

Ruby joined our family in August 2024 and I can honestly say adopting her was the best decision we have ever made. The whole process was so straight forward and our home checker was amazing. So supportive and knowledgeable. When Ruby was handed to me, it was love at first sight! She has fitted into our family perfectly. She has such a perfect temperament, happy to curl up and snooze (usually snuggled beside one of us) or equally happy to go on adventures. If I had the space I would adopt another handful from this rescue and I wholeheartedly think whoever decides to open their heart to a Final Stop pup will benefit so much and be very lucky indeed. Tracy, West Yorkshire

Seren

Seren (was Roxy) in Romania, off the bus & now. She was rescued from a house where she was terribly neglected and kept on a chain. She was adopted in August 2024. Her adopter says:

Seren (aka Roxy) came to us last August 2024. From application to arrival the process was a great experience. We were guided and advised, supported (and still are) and educated on the possible challenges of a rescue dog. Being able to track her journey from Romania to Wales online was wonderful and emotional. Seren is pure love and joy. We offered her plenty of time to chill and settle in, to gain trust and feel secure. She is so good out walking on the lead and we allow gentle introductions to other dogs. She’s been left at home occasionally for up to four hours with no issues at all. She loves the security of her little canopy bedroom and sleeps all night. We feel incredibly blessed and fortunate to have our little bundle in our lives and cannot praise highly enough the team who work so hard to rescue and re-home these pets. Hayley, Cheri and Monika and in our case the lovely Andreea who discovered and rescued Seren and provided the initial care, sincere thanks to you all. Lynne, Denbighshire
